program & policy updates

  • SID replaced TSS for new applications on 7 December 2024. If your TSS file was lodged before then, it continues under the TSS rules.
  • Income settings indexed on 1 July 2025. Ensure your nomination shows guaranteed earnings that meet the stream‑specific threshold (Core Skills vs Specialist Skills). Allowances not guaranteed may not count.
  • Grace period after job loss: policy now gives most 482/494/457 holders up to 180 days at a time (up to 365 in total) across the visa grant to change sponsors, apply for another visa, or depart. You may have scope to work during this period—check your conditions.
  • ANZSCO 2022 applies to 482 and 186 programs—occupation titles and codes may differ from older lists.
  • Family members: a streamlined “subsequent entrant” page for 457/482/SID family applications was refreshed mid‑2025.
  • Industry labour agreements: sector‑specific concessions (e.g., aged care) remain active with pathways to PR via 186 in some settings.
